Poker, the Radio, and other things

Hey guys! For both of you regular listeners (lol), you will notice that Holdem Hogs Radio has once again gone off the air. Well, there are several reasons at this point. The first being is that old gremlin, consistency. The radio software won't stay up as long as I'd like, and if it does, then the music source shuts off after a while. It was working pretty well there for a bit, but it still took daily monitoring to make it go. A second reason, sort of related, is we now seem to be having trouble using Skype between our regular PC and either laptop we use in the house. We'd had this problem on and off for the past 6 months and have thought it might be a connection issue (just trying to shove through too many bits on one line), but we have the fastest Cable you can get, so maybe that isn't it. I'm almost thinking now the problem is with the headset we're using on the PC, which actually allows a broadcast to occur over the radio. We'll try it with a USB, but we already know then no one else would be heard on the radio. I think it's time to look into another headset of the type similar to what we have now and see if that helps.

This all being said, it has also now come down to a time issue. As some of you may know, I recently got back into theatre after my illness to see if I still had the desire. Well it appears I still have that desire and more, which may lead to even more time away during the weeknights, although I have not decided on any involvement past this one which ends in three weeks. I guess I hadn't realized just how my body and mind were being affected by that illness, and just how long it evidently in place before the final flare-up in late summer. Now that we're managing it, life has come back and I don't want to miss it.

What does all this mean for poker? Not much, really. I still enjoy it, still am going to play it, and am going to do it with you fine people and in the name of Holdem Hogs. I'll stay play leagues, Snow Days, one-offs, OFC's, whatever. But I'm also going to evaluate everything I do. If it's going to be a nice sunny day outside, or if I feel I need to get involved in something else, that may take priority now. I don't want to have to play poker just for the sake of doing it, or that it's something I "should" do. I'm going to do it because it was the best option I had available for maximum enjoyment, and hopefully profit.

I probably didn't need to tell you any of this, as I imagine this is true for most of you with your families, jobs, and other activities. I just thought I would explain any absences that may occur. I still intend to qualify for POTY in 2009, it just may take all 11 months.

Holdem Hogs in 2009, taking over the poker world!

Very nice to hear your feeling well enough to pursue other passions .... the radio is secondary to all of us against someone pursuing a passion for life ... i would never as im sure must wouldnt have any ill feelings about how much someone donates their time and energy to the Hogs... In fact .. if you every hit broadway ... id definately have to come watch .... peace bro

You have something Moody that most of us are sometimes scared to go after...life. OUr passions and expectations of ourselves are sometimes clouded by fear and uncertainty. After your recent health conflict it seems those clouds have lifted and you see life for what it is...to be lived. As chuckie said...we will always be here and follow your dreams bro...
