Help Developing Better Team Play.... |
|
During a recent team game I made a couple of REALLY bad decisions regarding team play. One was jokingly suggesting another team mate to "fold" during an important league game. To make matters worse, I later took that same team mate out of the game completely with a better hand when that individual was small stacked. These are obviously things that are not smart moves to do.
The only defense I have is that I was treating this like a "PEN" game and not a "TEAM" game. I was playing for me...not us. Having fun, making jokes, and taking ppl out at will...as I would in an "every person for themselves game". After I fully realized and understood what was happening, it was too late...the damage was done...I offended a couple of ppl by comments that I made and I took a dear friend and team mate out. I have felt like steaming pooh in the hot sun ever since this happened.
So, to all those this affected, I humbley and sincerely apologize. I write this in efforts to find out how to play "teamplay" better and the follow the principles and guidlines of what and what NOT to do. I welcome any and all suggestions...
Ironically enough, I was provided with the opportunity to watch and learn quite a few of these priciples shortly after. Let me know if this is right and PLEASE, add your comments so I can better understand how this works.
Don't ever raise a teammate unless your in a headsup situation, unless you have a better hand.
Don't ever raise a teamy who is SB or BB and is small stacked (even if you have the best hand). Fold
Don't ever call a small stacked teamie who raises or goes all in (even if you have the best hand). It's best to fold
Check along with a teamie when there are still other non teammates on the felt.
I am sure there are many other things to do so again, please offer your comments and suggestions. These are just the ones that stuck out the most from watching last night. Thank you for any help you can provide and again, I am really sorry for the things I said and did during play...I can assure you, it won't happen again.

team play develops by learning bro... we have all made these mistakes in the early stages of the game... i know i did when first starting to play teams ... hard to fold the best hand when playing but as a good teamy thats what you do...
the only thing i have to say is about the blinds... as a teamy i try to play the hand as i normally would no matter who is in the blinds... ( barring we are small and big blind ) ... also barring the blind isnt a major portion of my teamys stack... its a bit difficult to read but i also dont like to check it down when there is another in the pot... once isolated with a teamy then i will check it down.. its time and tribulations and playing with one another that develops this play ...
